In reimagining a beloved local Izakaya, we delved into the culinary ethos of its head chef, Michiyo Wilson, discovering the core values of 'Food. Joy. Love. Harmony.' Michi embraces each diner with genuine affection, cherishing both patrons and the surrounding neighborhood. Her mission extends beyond mere dining; she fosters joy and unity within the community, making her restaurant its beating heart. Through meticulous art direction, we crafted a new identity—complete with a fresh name, logo, captivating photography, revamped menus, and enticing culinary offerings—all while preserving Michi's heartfelt narrative.

Symbol
The logo mark tells a story inspired by Hokkaido's serene landscapes and the beauty of its mountain flowers. Like ancient Japanese clan symbols, it reflects tradition and respect for nature, embodying resilience and harmony found in Hokkaido's mountains.

Palette
The color palette of this project brings a vibrant and authentic touch. The warmth of organic red adds a lively energy, while the subtlety of mountain gray provides a grounding balance. Ryokan night introduces a deep, tranquil tone, enhancing the overall harmony. Additionally, the texture inspired by an old Japanese pamphlet enriches the design, adding a layer of cultural depth and history.

The menu design stands out for its embodiment of the love and warmth that define this Japanese restaurant, a cherished symbol of the community. Each page radiates the essence of hospitality and tradition, presenting dishes that celebrate the rich flavors of Japanese cuisine. Through thoughtful presentation and visual expression, the menus convey a sense of unity and joy, capturing the heart of the restaurant's role in bringing people together.
